  • OPTHERM: Thermography in 3D printing at Maker Faire exhibition in Karlovy Vary

We participated in the Maker Faire exhibition on 29. 03. 2025 in Karlovy Vary, held in the representative premises of the Spa Hotel Thermal. We presented the possibilities of thermography in 3D printing using mini IR cameras and mini computers with our own software for thermodiagnostics of 3D printing of plastics. Visitors had the opportunity to see live demonstrations of 3D printing of plastic parts through the eyes of IR cameras. Part of the presentation was focused on introducing the basic principles of non-contact temperature measurement and the difficulties that can be caused by external environment. Our exposition was part of the solution of the Czech-Bavarian project OPTHERM.

  • Youth Perspectives in Science and Technology: A Girls’ Labs Talk

On Friday, March 14th, an inspiring discussion took place at the Gymnázium Jana Nerudy for more than seventy high school students. Three interesting guests shared their stories: Anna Krebsová, a high school student and member of the space project LASAR, Jan Lukačevič, a space engineer and science populariser, and Radka Vozábová, a particle physicist. The event was part of the Girls’ Labs project, aimed at breaking stereotypes in STEM fields and inspiring future female scientists.

  • Analysis of Photo-Thermal Properties of Coatings presented at the IR-EMPOWER Workshop in Spain

Zdeněk Veselý presented our activities in photo-thermal properties analysis at the IR-EMPOWER workshop, which took place in September at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. In his invited lecture, he summarized the developed measurement methods and their application areas, including their use for precise IR thermodiagnostics in additive manufacturing as part of the OPTHERM project, which aims to optimize 3D printing of plastic filaments to enhance the strength of printed parts.

  • OPTHERM: New Methods for Temperature Monitoring in 3D Printing

As part of the Czech-Bavarian project OPTHERM, our team is collaborating with Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg (OTH) to develop innovative methods for monitoring temperature during 3D printing. At a workshop held on October 18 to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the opening of the OTH Parsberg-Lupburg technology campus, we had a great opportunity to share our ongoing results with end users – companies manufacturing 3D printers.

  • Unique Measurement Method for Laser Processing Presented at PLI Conference in France

Jiří Martan presented cutting-edge developments on the PLI Conference, held in June in Bordeaux, focused on advancements in industrial laser processes. His invited talk focused on the fast temperature measurement method LabIR Ultrashort developed for process monitoring and control of laser surface texturing. The method was developed as part of the M-era.net project ADVENTURE. This project aims to enhance thermal spray technology by introducing laser surface texturing for cleaner and more flexible substrate preparation.

  • Innovations and Trends in Thermography: Recap of the ‘Termoden’ Workshop

On October 14, 2024, we hosted the seventh annual professional meeting for certified individuals in the role of thermographic diagnostics technicians. The event focused on advanced thermographic techniques, industrial applications, and the latest innovations in the field.
