NTC is engaged in Coronavirus combat using 3D printing
Our New Technologies – Research centre, as well as other parts of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, is working hard to support healthcare during the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. We produce protective shields using 3D printing and distribute them to hospitals, ambulances and social services.
We print protective shield holders simultaneously on three 3D printers using two printers from Prusa and one borrowed from the company LaserTherm. Now, 62 face shields have been printed and completed. We strive for almost continuous printing. We are able to produce 15 to 20 protective shields per day.
Our research centre is also looking for other ways to help in this difficult time using new technologies. We are testing, for instance, how to use the ozone generator to disinfect equipment and room and we are working on development of an IR camera, which would detect a person with higher fever when entering a building.
We wish a lot of strength to all doctors, medical staff and social service workers!
