Spectrometric device for measuring the spectral emissivity of surface materials in room temperature

The method enables measurement of optical properties of materials in the infrared spectrum at room temperature. A device for measurement of optical properties in the infrared spectrum at room temperature was developed. The commercial equipment with well-chosen components has been completed with calibrated standards and a detailed analysis of measurement uncertainties, allowing accurate measurement of a wide range of materials. The samples can be any industrial or laboratory samples with one flat surface (specular or diffuse). The measurement system consists of an FTIR spectrometer, integration sphere accessory, and reflectivity standards. This device allows analyses of the spectral dependence of optical properties of transparent and opaque materials. In particular, transmissivity, reflectivity, emissivity and absorptivity. The basic properties measured are reflectivity and transmissivity in the normal direction with the angle of incidence of 12°. Using Kirchhoff's law it is possible to evaluate normal emissivity and absorptivity from the measured data. By extrapolation of the normal quantity and integration over all angles of incidence, it is possible to determine a hemispherical quantity.
